Branch out a little with us this weekend and check out some of the unique events that you and your loved one can take part in. From braving the cold, winter waters of the Atlantic to tasting delicious wines, the Jersey Shore has a lot to offer beyond just a night out at a fancy restaurant.

5) Valentine's Day Plunge:

What better way to celebrate the fiery passions of the heart than by taking a plunge in the ice-cold waters of the Jersey Shore’s Atlantic coast? The 10th annual Valentine Plunge takes place between 12 and 5 on Saturday, February 13th in Manasquan. Collected donations benefit ALS patients. There will also be prizes for largest dollar amount raised and fun prizes for the best dressed!

4) Family Date Night at Jenkinson’s:

Don’t leave the kids at home this year. Jenkinson’s Aquarium in Point Pleasant Beach is offering a family special over the Valentine’s Day weekend, from Friday February 12th up to Sunday the 14th. You’ll be able to get entry into the Aquarium along with a large pizza and a pitcher of soda for just 49.95. Show the whole family how much you love them!

3) Monmouth Symphony Orchestra:

crossed wine glassesTake in some culture this year with the Monmouth Symphony Orchestra’s performance of a selection from Prokofiev, as well as Romeo and Juliet. The performance takes place at 3:00pm on Sunday, February 14th at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ, near Rumson.

2) Cupids Chase 5k Race:

Why not try something a little different? Put down the chocolates and sweat a little with the one you love. The Cupids Chase 5K run takes place on Saturday, February 13th in the small community of Seaside Heights, just south of Lavallette on the Barnegat Peninsula. Lace up those running shoes in support of people with disabilities.

1) Larita Winery Wine Trail Weekend:

Part of a state-wide event with many participating wineries across New Jersey, Laurita Winery in New Egypt, just west of Brick, will be showcasing their wines across two days of wine, chocolate and other treats. It’s a great excuse to get out and try some local varieties of wine, and a little bit of chocolate is okay too. The event takes place Saturday , February 13th and Sunday, February 14th!
