If you remember the iconic movie "Somethings Got to Give" starring Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson. This local Treasure located at 115 Curtis Point Drive, Mantoloking, NJ has some wonderful features from this classical movie. This home has been featured in Design New Jersey Magazine.
The owners had wonderful memories of their visits to seaside towns such as Nantucket and Newport, and asked the architectual team to incorporate coastal New England cottage details into the exterior. They also requested to create "a look of" but not copying one element of the Hampton Beach house featured in the movie. The new 7,681-square-foot structure — built to withstand storms with features such as brick and fiber-cement horizontal siding — has traditional architectural elements such as gable roofs with dormers, copper roof elements, boxed windows with black window frames, generous crown molding and other endearing features, including copper chimney pots, rackets, trellises and picket fencing.
The home features four bedrooms, five and one half bathrooms with a wide-open living areas that maximize the views of Barnegat Bay. In the combined living and dining rooms, the coffered ceilings distinguish the large scale space along with paneled white washed walls. Shiplap offers a "bayfront cottage feeling" in the family room. The kitchen has 4 inch tongue-and-groove planking on the dramatic double height ceiling. Elsewhere, lattice designs make their mark on vaulted ceilings in the main floor's master bedroom and bathroom.
The first-floor master suite offers one prominent feature that echoes the movie as the large writer's desk over looks the bay. The kitchen was designed for those that love to entertain, from the warm, natural tones of the cabinets to the black finish double islands. A professional range, double ovens, dishwashers, sinks and warming drawers will be perfect setting for party preparation.
