Worst US Blizzards in HistoryIt was supposed to be "Snowmageddon" - one of the worst blizzards to ever hit New Jersey. Turns out - thankfully - it wasn't what forecasters had feared. Public transit was back in action by mid morning allowing employees to get to their jobs. Officials had originally predicted the blizzard would bring 2 to 4 feet of snow - along with hurricane force winds - to a large region from Northern New Jersey down to Southern Maine. NJ Gov. Chris Christie lifted the statewide travel ban at 7:30 am on Tuesday.

So with forecasters getting this blizzard wrong, at least in New Jersey, here's a quick look at a few of the most devastating blizzards the U.S. has ever seen:

  • Snowmageddon 1: In February 2010, two blizzards broke snowfall records in the mid-Atlantic…

Statue of Liberty in New Jersey

Those born and raised in the Garden State can certainly relate to the following signs you're from New Jersey and are more than proud to be a New Jerseyan:

1. You are well aware that the Statue of Liberty is in New Jersey, not New York, and you've climbed to the top at least once.

2. You know what jug handles are and you loathe them in a big way

3. You know just about all the actors in the "Jersey Shore" TV show are not actually from the Jersey Shore.

4. You have been to a couple of the places shown in the opening theme of "The Sopranos".

5. You have been to many diners, with at least a few of them boasting shiny exteriors.

6. Instead of asking "Where do you live?" you ask "What exit?"

Beach Haus Beers, Belmar NJ

Among the things you can count on with summer in full swing down on the Jersey Shore are sun, sand and beating the heat with Jersey Shore craft beers.

New Jersey has many craft brewers making some outstanding seasonal brews including Artisan's Brewery & Italian Grill in Toms River and the East Coast Beer Company, who craft the popular Beach Haus beers. East Coast will be setting up a new shop in Belmar on Main Street.

East Coast Beer Company, which is currently located in Point Pleasant Beach, has a big summer hit with its Beach Haus Classic American Pilsner. The recipe is inspired by early German immigrants who brought the old-country brewing methods and used them with ingredients found in the United States. To that end, Beach Haus Pilsner…

Monmouth Count beach restoration

Almost two years after Hurricane Sandy struck New Jersey, officials are declaring the Monmouth County beaches as fully restored and in better shape than they were before the devastating superstorm hit on Oct. 29, 2012, and wreaked havoc on the state's 127-mile coast.

With repairing the beaches, the goal was twofold: To regenerate the vital tourism industry as well as protect property and people from future storms. Work by the Army Corps of Engineers finished in late June for Monmouth County, completing a massive stretch of widened beachfront from the Manasquan Inlet up to Sandy Hook. Officials say the renovated beaches are in better shape now than before Sandy after close to 8 million cubic yards of sand was moved ashore with a pricetag of $109…
