Spring Lake One Of Best Jersey Shore Towns

In a recent look at some of the best beach towns down on the Jersey Shore, the Travel Channel listed Spring Lake as a top Shore town thanks to its gorgeous beaches, non-commercial boardwalk, and small town refinement.

Spring Lake is the quintessential old-world town with its Victorian oceanfront homes and mansions overlooking the Majestic Atlantic Ocean. Many people travel from New York, which is just 60 miles away, and rent a home for a weekend or a week or two. Point Pleasant Beach Christmas Tree Lighting

The Point Pleasant Beach Chamber of Commerce has moved its Christmas tree lighting celebration back to the downtown area, and the big celebration will take place on Friday, Nov. 28 at 5:30 p.m. The amazing tree will be in front of Point Beach Interiors. The celebration is scheduled to include attractions such as stiltwalkers and pony rides. In addition, the chamber also will be offering free horse-drawn carriage rides to the public every Sunday between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The carriage rides will be available…

Monmouth County Beaches Fully Restored

Almost two years after Hurricane Sandy struck New Jersey, officials are declaring the Monmouth County beaches as fully restored and in better shape than they were before the devastating superstorm hit on Oct. 29, 2012, and wreaked havoc on the state's 127-mile coast.

With repairing the beaches, the goal was twofold: To regenerate the vital tourism industry as well as protect property and people from future storms. Work by the Army Corps of Engineers finished in late June for Monmouth County, completing a massive stretch of widened beachfront from the Manasquan Inlet up to Sandy Hook. Officials say the renovated beaches are in better shape now than before Sandy after close to 8 million cubic yards of sand was moved ashore with a pricetag of $109…

Jenkinsons: A Point Pleasant Beach Boardwalk Empire

No doubt Enoch "Nucky" Thompson would be proud. Considering Nucky Thompson (Based on former real-life Atlantic City political figure Enoch L. Johnson) is the protagonist in HBO's Boardwalk Empire, he would surely enjoy the popular boardwalk at Point Pleasant Beach, which is on nj.com's list of Big 6 New Jersey Boardwalks.

Point Pleasant Beach's boardwalk first appeared in the summer of 1890. Then along came Charles Jenkinson, who stared carving out his own boardwalk empire in the 1920s by buying beachfront parcels of land. Soon the Jenkinson's Pavilion came about in 1928 and it had a bandstand, a massive dance hall, food booths and what has been referred to as the largest saltwater pool along the Jersey Shore.
