jersey shore wine weekendPresented by Jersey Shore Restaurant Week and sponsored by several local businesses, the 4th annual Jersey Shore Wine Weekend is your chance to get out and take an international journey through the world of wine with your neighbors! The event is set to take place at the Ocean Place Resort and Spa in Long Branch, NJ, February 19th and 20th.

Learn about which wines pair well with which kinds of food, and take advantage of the opportunity to get involved in food tutorials with noted executive Chef Peter Csikos. Check out the schedule below and decide which events you’d like to check out!

Friday, February 19th.

Start off the festivities the right way! Compare two different versions of Aligote, the breakfast wine, one from France and the other from right here in the USA!

Blind Champagne Tasting: Try three different styles of high-quality champagne, and rate them worst to best.

Spanish Tapas Cooking Demo Lunch: Take part in a cooking demo of Spanish finger foods, with noted Executive Chef Peter Csikos. The exquisitely prepared gourmet foods will of course be expertly paired with complimentary Spanish wines.

wine and cheeseTake a tour of the Rhine: Try a few different varieties of Riesling and discover the amazing variety of flavors, from the surprisingly dry to sweeter variations.

Hidden Gems: Forge new territory with a few hidden gems. Explore the little known wine regions in Portugal, Italy and California that you may not have discovered yet. You might find something you like!

Second Labels: Try 3 stellar “second label” wines. The origins of the concept of second wines can be traced back to Bordeux in the 18th century. This is still high quality wine that wasn’t chosen for the winery’s premier label but still exceeds a high standard.

Saturday, February 20th.

The Grand Tasting: The main event. Here’s your chance to taste over 40 different wines from around the world, paired expertly with various complimenting meats, cheeses and breads. Many of the food items come courtesy of Joe Leone’s of Point Pleasant and Sea Girt, and local establishments others.

“Judgement of Paris” Tasting: This event celebrates the 40th anniversary of the historic Judgement of Paris which put Californian wines on the map! The story goes that French wines were pitted against the Napa Valley’s finest, resulting in the American wines being judged superior. Sample three of those top ranked Californian wines in their current vintages.
