ReFind owner, local artist and resident of the Bay Head community, Zsa Zsa Stackles wanted to bring a whimsical, artistic energy back to the Jersey Shore after the devastation of Hurricane Sandy. The result – Refind, a fun, stress-free environment for local artists and interested parties to simply create.
The unique boutique, gallery and art studio opened its doors in June of 2014 and has been offering an eclectic mix of found art, and continuous art classes and seminars for all ability levels ever since. The space can also be rented by local artists looking for a space to be creative. If you’re feeling inspired, Zsa Zsa will do her best to help make your inspiration a reality.
A Showcase of Local Artwork & Artists
Zsa Zsa displays and sells a collection of her own artwork as well as many other local artists. The available wares change daily, with unique new items created and sold daily. Not restricted to simply display art, ReFind also features functional pieces including tables, chairs and lamps, as well as jewelry and decorative figurines.
With the exception of the original artwork created in the shop, all pieces feature recycled items from the Bay Head community. The unique, one-of-a-kind aspect of many of the items means that once they are purchased, they’re gone! So if you visit the boutique and see something you like, you better scoop it up or risk missing out.
Community Development through Art
Community members are invited to contribute items for pieces or take part in one of the many seminars and ongoing art classes provided by Zsa Zsa. Not your everyday art school, some of the more unique offerings include the “Art Abandonment” workshop, where participants are encouraged to create small pieces of artwork in any medium and then leave it in a public place to be found – it could be in a park, up a tree or in a coffee shop, the choice is left to the participant.
ReFind is all about making art accessible and encouraging the creation of art as therapy to anybody, even the “non-artists”. The classes offered teach a wide variety of forms and are designed for anyone, any age or ability level. Drop by – browse the gallery, peruse the store or take a class, the possibilities are virtually endless.
