Toms River is located in Ocean County New Jersey. Home to an expansive wetland (Cattus Island County Park), the community was known as Dover until 2006. It is found, like its name suggests, on Toms River, with its eastern boundary along the Jersey Shore. The community is perhaps most well-known for its beautiful homes and outdoor recreation opportunities, as well as its shopping, dining, and entertainment. Toms River Fest is a main attraction, and is held yearly.

Major retail centers include Ocean County Mall, an indoor mall anchored by four department stores, and Seacourt Pavilion, an outdoor mall with a cineplex and fitness center in addition to retail and dining locations. Some of the most popular beaches in Toms River are Dover Beaches North and South and Ortley Beach. The community is also home to the Bey Lea Golf Course. There are several municipal parks throughout the township, and Toms River is just north of Double Trouble State Park.

Toms River School Information

Children living in Toms River attend schools in the Toms River Regional Public School System, which consists of 12 elementary schools, three intermediate schools, and three high schools. North Dover Elementary receives an excellent eight out of 10 rating from the school ranking website GreatSchools.org. Parochial schools serving the area include St. Joseph's Grade School and Donovan Catholic High School.
