jersey shore memorial day weekend

To many the Memorial Day Weekend serves as a welcoming to the coming summer season, but it's important to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day. The holiday is a celebration of those that sacrificed so much for our freedom. Like much of the country, the Jersey Shore has a number of ways that you can get out there with your community and family to show your patriotism. And you don't even need to go far from home.

Here are a few Memorial Day activities that you and your family can take part in.

Point Pleasant Memorial Day Bike Parade | Saturday, May. 28

A Point Pleasant community tradition, this is a great way to demonstrate your community spirit and have a bit of fun at the same time. Get your bike, stroller or even your wagon dressed up in vibrant red, white and blue, and meet up with your neighbours.

The parade runs along Arnold Avenue and participants can meet at 9:30am across from Elks Lodge.

Jersey Shore Food Truck Festival | May 28 - 30

Make a trip this culinary event a priority! The 2016 Jersey Shore Food Truck festival boasts 50 vendors from all over the east coast. Hungry festival-goers can enjoy anything from a cheesesteak sandwich and empanadas to fresh Atlantic lobster rolls.

The delicious community event is scheduled to take place Saturday through Monday on the Memorial Day Weekend at Monmouth Park in Oceanport, NJ.

Bradley Beach Memorial Day Weekend Festival | May 28-30

Bradley Beach has an entire weekend full of activities for its local residents, as well as those in the nearby Jersey Shore communities.

Events kick off on Saturday with a Memorial Day Parade featuring a number of marching bands and pipe bands from various area High Schools, beginning at the corner of Ocean Avenue and Bradley Boulevard. After the parade take your time and enjoy the festivities taking place over the remainder of the weekend, including live music, and plenty of food and craft vendors. Don't worry, there will also be plenty of games for children, and the entire family!
