jersey shore outdoor patioAs temperatures rise, home owners everywhere are beginning to head outside in search of a little sunshine. You may be ready to leave your winter blues behind, but is your Jersey Shore home’s outdoor space ready for the influx of sunny days?

Have no fear. We’ve put together a collection of helpful tips to make sure your patio and outdoor lounge area is ready for those lazy, sun-soaked afternoons and long summer nights around the fire pit. Let’s get your outdoor space ready for the impending summer!

Light the Way

The days may be long, but the light will still likely fade long before you’re ready to. Strings of long-lasting LED lights can be strung virtually anywhere adding just the right amount of illumination to even darkest corners, while maintaining a romantic ambiance. A little light can go a long way, allowing you to entertain late into the twilight hours.

Also, consider illuminating those walk ways. A series of inexpensive solar lights may be all your backyard needs to help illuminate those dark pathways. This will make your journey home after dusk that much easier.

Clean and De-Clutter

Clean your outdoor space! This one may be a no-brainer but it can make an incredible difference. Many home owners utilize their outdoor patio spaces as extra storage, especially in the off-season. Cleaning and de-cluttering (at least temporarily in the summer) will offer you much more space to work with.

Plus, giving deck spaces and outdoor furniture a quick wash with a pressure washer will likely remove a year’s worth of grime, uncovering a hidden gem beneath.outdoor patio party

Add a Splash of Color

It’s amazing what a little color can accomplish. Examples of small accents can range from a mosaic feature piece, brightly colored planter boxes and unusual, or re-purposed items. You may even want to consider adding a brightly colored throw blanket, lounging pillow or outdoor rug. Aside from adding a bit of flare, they also contribute to making your outdoor space just a bit more comfortable.

Light a Fire

Why not bring the campout home with you? Nothing screams summer like roasting marshmallows or cocktail weenies over the open flame. Even if you’re not a fan of camp food, the light and heat from the fire will help keep that summer party alive into the night.

A great alternative to the campfire smell and mess is a propane fire pit. You can have all the fun and ambiance of a real fire without the hassle of burning wood in the traditional way. During the day, the fire pit cover can double as a game board for checkers or chess for an ingenious way to add even more value.

Take the Kitchen or Bar Outdoors

What better way to get the most of the warmer seasons than to bring the interior of your home outside! An outdoor bar or kitchen can range all the way from a simple cupboard with ice box all the way to full kitchen complete with grill, electric refrigerator and running water.

An outdoor bar or kitchen allows you to entertain without the disruption of moving inside and outside of your home. The kitchen is often the place where guests congregate anyways, why not take it outdoors?
