New jersey state song

After going decades without a state song, New Jersey could soon have no less than 5 state songs.

After some 50 years of bickering, lobbying and backroom dealing, New Jersey lawmakers have come up with a unique bipartisan deal they hope will solve the long-standing State Song issue. To that end, a proposed new bill (S2438) would create five songs New Jerseyians can call their own.

Sadly none of the songs are by Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Whitney Houston or even Frank Sinatra. Instead the list includes:

  • "I'm From New Jersey" by Red Mascara would be called the "state song"
  • "New Jersey My Home" by Patrick Finley would be the "state anthem"
  • "In New Jersey" has lyrics inspired by a 4th grade class would be the "state children's song"

Looks like the Bay Head and Mantoloking luxury real estate markets are making a nice recovery two years after Superstorm Sandy hit the Jersey Shore with a knockout punch.

A new, mid-year report prepared by Clayton and Clayton Realtors shows the Bay Head and Mantoloking areas of the Shore have experienced a true market revival over the past 12 months. Total sales were way up through August 2014 with a whopping 421% increase, while homes were selling for 21.4% more than a year ago. These figures all indicate an improving luxury market. With just a couple of weeks left before school starts and the lazy, hazy days of summer begin to cool off, a bit of a slowdown in the Ocean County real estate market is not unusual during the summer months. But even with a bit of a slow summer, the overall picture looks pretty good for Ocean County real estate and home sales.

The median sales price of a home in Ocean County this past July was $275,000, up $11,000 from July 2013. In addition, the July 2014 median price of an Ocean County condo-townhome was $182,500 - up $12,500 from July 2013.
